Atal Indian Project is a Citizens’ Initiative conceptualized by Nitin Sahrawat.

Creation of multiple Urban Forests called Atal Vatika in Indian cities and towns, through coordinated plantation of native Indian trees, on vacant or encroached public land.
Colour- coordinated Avenue tree plantation, and landscaping of public areas in the capital of the Indian state of Uttarakhand.
Atal Vatika, and its surrounding areas have become home for various new species.
Atal India has partnered with Google Maps to tag and map the interlying area between the Rispana and Sahastradhara Rivers.
Excess rainwater which used to drain off earlier, has now been channelized to raise the ground water table of the Atal Vatika neighborhood
Atal Indian encourages households to grow herbs and vegetables organically, and to set up a kitchen garden in even the smallest of available area.

Ever since the creation of Atal Vatika, this area has become home for ever increasing number of species of animals and birds.
Atal Indian has been conceptualized by Nitin Sahrawat, as part of his social outreach efforts.
